Boredom

He walked into the room to find her laying on the bed, watching a movie on her laptop.

— Hey.

Yo — she replied without looking away from the screen.

— Improvised movie night? — he asked, hoping it would cause some effect. She paused the movie and stretched her arms.

Nah, just boredom night, I guess.

— May I join you?

He was probably expecting her to say "be my guest", and the lack of that answer made him wonder if she was really ok. She lifted the blanket and made room so that he could lay down beside her. Taking off his jacket and just leaving it on the chair, he kicked his sneakers and laid down putting his arm over her waist, and hit play.

— Shouldn't you be on a date or something? — he asked.

Should I?

— Don't tell me he stood you up.

There was no date to begin with. I wash my hands.

Now it was his turn to pause the movie. She stared at him from the corner of her eye.

— Already?

I'm not in the mood to run after a guy, at this point of life, y'know — she sounded sadly serious.

— You never had to run after someone before, what changed?

It's complicated.

— I love the fact that you're complicated.

Shut up.

She tried to smother him with a pillow, but ended up laughing at it all. Hugging the pillow, she turned towards the laptop and hit play once again. Hugging her, he turned towards the laptop and started to pay attention to the movie, watching it with his head over her shoulder.

— He's the one at loss, though - he decided to comment.

Oh, is he really.

— What would you be losing? Maybe there's more to him than what you know now.

I might be losing the chance to find out... But I'll overcome this feeling of loss, eventually.

— You always manage to do that.

Another thing you love? - she smiled.

— Yep — he smiled too.

She could hear him breathing close to her face, and for a second she wondered if she wouldn't have complained about the fact that he just went and snuggled with her, under normal conditions. Maybe that's what she needed, since she wasn't under normal conditions, though she prayed that he wouldn't notice that much. Though he did.

— Now what's this movie about? Are you drowning in sorrow watching some cliché romantic comedy?

Of course not, don't be such an idiot — she laughed a bit.

That's all he wanted.

— Come on, that's what you love about me, right?

She nodded, turning her face a little towards him. He smiled a big smile.

That's all she wanted.
